To understand the problem of natural right, one must start, not from the "scientific" understanding of political things but from their "natural" understanding, i.e., from the way in which they present themselves in political life, in action, when they are our business, when we have to make decisions. This does not mean that political life necessarily knows of natural right. Natural right had to be discovered, and there was political life prior to that discovery. It means merely that political life in all its forms necessarily points toward natural right as an inevitable problem. Awareness of this problem is not older than political science but coeval with it. Hence a political life that does not know of the idea of natural is necessarily unaware of the possibility of political science and, indeed, of the possibility of science as such, just as a political life that is aware of the the possibility of sicence necessarily knows natural right as a problem.

Wow. He's still around.

I recently wrote about a site full of crazies that I found, and happened to mention it to a few friends, and they probably got it off my blog, too. I am constantly bemused by neo-Confederates, anti-equality bigots and other such delightful specimens of humanity, and so I seek out their information and newsletters as frequently as I possibly can. Call me a sucker for stupidity. I also truly love getting their press releases, although I really don't like attending their conferences. Being around those people is really, really creepy. Also, their press kits suck.

Anyway, I didn't really peruse the site too much at at the time, but a few of my buddies decided to spread the word about and visit the site. After a few days of posting and debating, I heard back from two of them that their place of work's IP address was blocked! Further conversation leads to the startling realisation that their arguments went entirely unengaged.

Am I surprised? Not really. I've always said that people like the bigots over at The Conservative Times are more interested in shouting and making noise than they are willing to engage in any kind of debate. Give them an opportunity to repeat things that they already believe, and they'll spout off. Challenge the truth-claims of what they say, and they suffer an intellectual paralysis. You see a lot of that here in Washington, actually. It's really why I continue to refer to them as "sheeple."

BLEAT BLEAT BLEAT BLEAT! What, think? Cannot!

CLAIM! CLAIM! CLAIM! Warrant? No warrant!

Well, anyway, I suggest that you guys go visit Conservative TImes and see what they're up to. Challenge them and debate them. I would, myself, but I have a very good feeling about who the sock puppeteer behind the site is, and he's the sort of unsavoury psychopath I prefer to avoid. I had really hoped that he would have crawled back under the rock whence he came, but I suppose that even a crazy is entitled to a blog.
