To understand the problem of natural right, one must start, not from the "scientific" understanding of political things but from their "natural" understanding, i.e., from the way in which they present themselves in political life, in action, when they are our business, when we have to make decisions. This does not mean that political life necessarily knows of natural right. Natural right had to be discovered, and there was political life prior to that discovery. It means merely that political life in all its forms necessarily points toward natural right as an inevitable problem. Awareness of this problem is not older than political science but coeval with it. Hence a political life that does not know of the idea of natural is necessarily unaware of the possibility of political science and, indeed, of the possibility of science as such, just as a political life that is aware of the the possibility of sicence necessarily knows natural right as a problem.

"The Skills to Pay The Bills" (Web Update)

That was the name of one of my favourite Beastie Boys songs, but it also happens to apply to this post. Here's what's going on with my internet projects.

Current Projects

  • PhiloLogia is currently powered by WordPress, but is in the process of being translated into a multi-authored, diary-driven site using the Drupal content management system. The mission of the blog remains the same and the current posts will be imported. The changes are for the better, though. Look for a new colour theme, structure and the fresh new perspectives that come from having multiple authors.
  • DheerajChand.Com is currently powered by WordPress, and is going to remain that way. Given that the mission of this site is to aggregate content and provide updates about the author, the power of Wordpress to enable blog posts and static page content on the fly is sufficient for what I need.
  • Desis For Texas Blog (Old) and Desis For Texas Blog will finally be integrated and completed using Wordpress.

Upcoming Projects

  • Apotropos is new affiliate blog under the PhiloLogia project. It is currently authored by Chris Merwin, and will be powered using Movable Type. The current iteration of the project can be found on Blogger.
  • Upcoming artist Chris Beekman has asked me to develop a website, gallery and blog for him using WordPress This is my first foray into the world of the fine arts, so let's hope that it goes well!
  • BlueDog Blog will be a multi-authored, diarist-driven blog similar to Redstate, but for the Blue Dogs. While not a Blue Dog myself, I have several friends who are, and I think that it's important to have their voices heard. I intend to build them a blog where their concerns and positions can be debated and discussed using the Drupal suite.
  • The DC Texas Democrats is an amazing social group in Washington, D.C., of which I am a happy member. The group has steadily grown in size, and has successfully hosted happy hours, singles mixers and fundraisers for Texas Democrats. It's now to the point where we now need to have announcement lists, list-servs and a web presence beyond what Yahoo! Groups can do for us. The solution is a Movable Type powered site with list-serv software running on a subdomain.

And there we have it: a statement of what I'm doing and where I'm going. -dx
